Carl is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Breakout Capital. Through a decade of work as an investment banker to the alternative finance industry, Carl identified market inefficiencies and widespread industry practices that made it extremely expensive for many small business owners to secure funding. Such capital also carried additional costs frequently not fully understood by business owners at the time of funding. Carl founded Breakout Capital in an effort to bring affordable and fully transparent funding solutions to small businesses with a wide range of credit profiles. Breakout Capital eliminates the hidden costs that have significantly raised the cost of capital to small business owners, enabling the company to offer an affordable solution tailored to each business. Prior to founding Breakout Capital, Carl worked as an Investment Banker at FBR & Co. and in the Corporate Strategies Group at Capital One Financial Corporation. Carl graduated from American University with a B.S. in Business Administration and Economics. Carl was recognized in the 2016 Trending 40’s list of D.C.’s top entrepreneurs under 40 years old and is a member of the Forbes Finance Council.
Firoze Lafeer

Firoze leads technology for Breakout Capital, including scaling our tech platform to enable our industry leading products. Prior to joining Breakout, Firoze led Capital One Labs and the Capital One Tech Fellows Program where he and his teams broke significant new industry ground in areas of machine learning, scaled distributed infrastructure, payment methods, API patterns, and several innovations in customer experience. Prior to Capital One, he led technology for a number of leading edge programs in the US Federal government, and a few successful startups going back to Outpost.com in the early days of e-commerce. Firoze’s volunteer passions are around developing young coders from diverse backgrounds and he lives in Fairfax VA with his wife, son, helmet and stopwatch.

Jay Bhatt

Jay serves as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Breakout Capital, where he is responsible for marketing initiatives, CRM optimization utilizing targeted analytics, and new customer acquisition strategies. Jay will also serve as a great resource for Breakout Capital’s customers. Following each transaction, Jay and his team will offer small business customers a free review of current marketing strategies and help develop a full tactical plan that can be visualized and analyzed with metrics. Jay brings more than 10 years of marketing and business development experience for companies including WebMD, GlaxoSmithKline, and Viscira, with a specific focus on digital marketing and brand optimization. Jay received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
